U.S. Rep. Barney Frank Endorses Trevor Thomas for Congress

Eldest daughter of Robert F. Kennedy praises Trevor Thomas' commitment to progressive values

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - U.S. Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) endorsed Michigan 3rd District Congressional candidate Trevor Thomas today, ahead of the Michigan primary on August 7th. Congressman Frank signed a fundraising email on Thomas's behalf, to be sent this morning. Congressman Frank, who has represented Massachusetts since 1981, is widely recognized for his leadership on financial services reform, which included creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Trevor Thomas has emphasized his opposition to Republican efforts to undermine the CFPB.

"I am endorsing Trevor Thomas because I think he is the best Democrat to beat the incumbent Republican and to serve the district," said U.S. Representative Barney Frank. "Trevor  has showed he'll put in the work to win a tough race, and that's what a Democrat will need to do to win in the fall."

"I am thankful for Representative Frank's endorsement," said Trevor Thomas. "He has been a leader on consumer issues and on fairness and equality, and you always know exactly where he stands. As a representative, I'll fight for West Michigan on those same critical issues."

Thomas, who is up against former state legislator Steve Pestka, is the only pro-choice candidate in the August 7th Democratic primary. Thomas has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action Fund, former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, former Lt. Gov. John Cherry, former Grand Rapids City Commissioner Mary Alice Williams, former Kent County Commissioner Paul Mayhue, former West Michigan Congressional Candidate Fred Johnson (D-MI), Bob Eleveld, IBEW Local 275, Democracy for America Michigan, Progressive Women's Alliance of West Michigan, Cate Edwards, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree and former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy.
