TREVOR's PLAN - Fighting for Social Security - Get the facts
"I spoke with Judge Pestka tonight and congratulated him on his victory in this hard-fought campaign," said Thomas. "I told him that I look forward to working together to defeat Justin Amash in the fall. Democrats and folks from across the political spectrum are united in feeling that Representative Amash is out of touch with West Michigan values, and we need to make sure that we unseat him in November."
Pestka continues to claim "consistent" 100% rating from League of Conservation Voters; in fact, received 55% in first term, the 3rd lowest score of any Democrat in his first term in Congress
"Trevor is committed to West Michigan and he'll fight for policies that make sense." said Mayor Myers. "He's got my backing because he'll fight for what's right, and he'll be a true advocate for the people of West Michigan and our communities."
"Trevor Thomas will be a terrific advocate for equality in Congress. His accomplishments and record for taking tough, public stands on key issues will serve those who still feel the effects of discrimination in this country well," said Amy Hunter, President of Equality Michigan Pride PAC.
"I am endorsing Trevor Thomas because I think he is the best Democrat to beat the incumbent Republican and to serve the district," said U.S. Representative Barney Frank. "Trevor has showed he'll put in the work to win a tough race, and that's what a Democrat will need to do to win in the fall."
Struggling to compete and down in polls, the Steve Pestka campaign attempts a last ditch effort and releases an advertisement this morning featuring women claiming that they "know" Steve Pestka, but describing what they know as opposite of his actual record and current views on women's issues.
"My family has fought for the same things that Trevor is standing up for in West Michigan," said Kennedy Townsend. "I'm supporting Trevor Thomas because he is a fighter for the most important democratic positions. He's pro-choice and he'll fight for women's access to health care. He's pro-environment, and he'll fight for the Great Lakes. He was the first in his family to attend college, and he's fighting for working class families to have the same kind of opportunities he has had."
"Michigan NOW enthusiastically recommended Trevor Thomas to the national office because he is fighting for the right things, and he's the only candidate standing up for a woman's right to choose and women's access to health care." -- Bobbie Walton, President of Michigan NOW.
The ad, featuring his mother who worked in a local auto factory for 30 years, shares Thomas' story and the defining difference in the race: Thomas supports stem cell research and a woman's right to choose while his opponent has supported extreme anti-choice positions.
"West Michigan needs a representative who will fight for us, and Trevor is the fighter in this race," said Mayor Balice. "To unseat the incumbent, a Democrat is going to have to work harder than ever, and Trevor has what it takes."
"It’s time for us to return to the values of Jerry Ford, who put politics aside to do what was best for our country. My parents’ generation helped put the world on wheels and furniture in our living rooms. Now it is our time to stand up and fight for Michigan families to ensure they get a fair shake."
